1965 Magnatone X-5 Zephyr! Made in the USA. Very cool White Sparkle finish on double-cut Poplar body. Maple neck, topped with a 20-fret Rosewood board with dot inlays. Hey tone seekers! Check out this mid 50's Magnatone Starlet amp that I hot rodded into a Fender narrow panel tweed champ! Originally the starlet is an ACDC amp with no power transformer. These typically sound kinda weak, SO I gutted the circuit and added a vintage new old stock stancor power transformer from the 50's, kept the original speaker and output transformer and built a narrow panel 5f1 champ circuit inside! Wicked little beast! Late 1940's Magnatone Varsity Amp! Original field coil 8 inch speaker in fantastic shape as shown and heard. This amp just sounds evil and nasty! The more you turn it up the more the low end blossoms and the breakup sounds just better and better! Excellent condition for its age. Minor cosmetic wear. The speaker, tubes, and a few caps are not original. The speaker out was modified to allow the player to use the internal speaker, or plug it into a external cabinent. This amp has exceptional clean tones and nice, fully functional vibrato. A fun quirky little amp that packs a punch. These are rare amps and very sought after. This one shows some wear and will need some TLC but plays and sounds great. Nice natural overdrive

Looks to be all original. Please note thaf the vibrato is untested. I just dont have a FS to test. Also there is a loud whisle that happens when powering on. Bad tube or cap? But it goes away immediately. Rare C12 speaker too. Vintage tubes. All light up but can guarantee the life of them.
