The tone of this 70 year old wood is extremely rich. Original bakelite pick guard and headstock cap. Non-original bridge or tailpiece can be reworked to perfection. Player grade example with age use imperfections, structurally sound and great candidate for floating pickup or go all the way with installed pickup and bigsby. Early- to mid-1950s Kay K-22 jumbo flat top acoustic. Solid spruce top, with back and sides of laminated mahogany. Ladder braced. Bridge was totally mangled (brass bolts / nuts had started to pull up from excess tension) but replaced with an NOS Kay bridge from the same era. Slight and stable risen areas on the top behind the anchor bolts, but I contoured the new bridge over these for better fit. Very minor. Very clean and all original (including case and trem bar) late 1960s Kay Vanguard II. Almost no finish wear, and just a couple of minor dings along the edges. Finish is rather ??satin??, however, which likely represents light surface oxidizing over the decades. I had to do a little work to get it playing well; to remedy some amateurish fret lowering (ahhhhh!). The guitar has a very minor rise at the body joint (common with these), but a former owner badly mangled the top three frets in response.... more

Here is a 24" scale parlor guitar that I have strung with baritone strings and tuned as a cello - CGDA. Think of it as a mandocello with only 4 strings - and a lot easier to play. Fantastic bass in good condition considering its age.
It has been played so there are some scratches at the back and minor marks throughout. I tried to include these in pics.
There is some fret wear but there's life still left in them.

Kansas parlour style guitar built under license from Kay in Romania some time between 1958 and 1964 (I believe). The condition is incredibly good considering the age. There are small marks around the edges of the sides and front / back join - where the binding would be - but otherwise it looks fantastic. There is no wear to any of the frets and the do not look to have been replaced - there is some overspray still visible on the zero fret.

Rare Kay short scale Stratocaster shaped electric guitar in a red / cream / ivory finish. the guitar is in very good condition for its age with some marks, fret board shows signs of being played but not too bad, fret have a little wear but plays nice. There is a slight crack to the body at the neck joint, but it is very stable. the 2 single coils pick ups give some great tones.

Old Kay bass plays very well , as you can see thee scratch plate doesn??t cover an hole completely at the bottom that??s never bothered me or caused a problem it also has some quite large chips at the bottom back of the body, it??s an old bass and looks like it as well , so if you like your guitars to look new this is not for you . Vintage Kay KD 28, made in Italy by Eko in the 70??s.

It is in decent condition, although it has scratches and bumps all around the body (a couple of which have been covered with filler and paint). There is some paint touch up done here and there.
It works and sounds good

It plays at almost 3mm at fret 12, which is a bit too high for me, but the neck is straight, so this can be corrected by adding material under the neck and adjusting the bridge.
