Silvertone Teisco Hofner-style Beatle bass guitar pickguard from the late 1960s. The sale includes the 3-ply (white / black / white) pickguard and the thumb rest with the bolts holding it to the pickguard. There's some gunk on the pickguard. Up for auction: Original 60's JAPAN Hofner 500 / 1 style violin bass case
The case is in sturdy condition, but has some issues:
- lots of surface scratches (see pics)
- the lining is loose and needs regluing
- some blistering on top
- some binding is missing
- handle mount missing, and re-attached with wire (see pics)

This is a nice Hofner copy of the Beatle Bass Paul used. We believe it to be a Univox or Teisco 1960's. Electronics all work however the tone just has a little static noise when you turn it volume works great and so does the tone other than that drop of static while turning (probably a very good electronics cleaning is in order). Here's a nice vintage 1966 Hofner 12 in above player condition. Sounds and plays nice. Truss rod has been replaced and operates smoothly. Three ferrules are missing where the tuning post comes up through the headstock. I'm Spring cleaning so I'll include them if I find them. I found this instrument recently and have done some work to clean it up. It plays really well. I have been over the entire instrument and here are my comments
1. I dressed the fretwires and most of the fine lines on the wires are gone exception is the fretwire adjacent to the nut
2. The fretboard - including the fretmarkers, are in near perfect condition. Neck has a seam down the middle that your thumb can feel

1967 all original Vintage Hofner Bass. POT is from '67 The 147 denotes either the made in the 14th week or some say take the 14 divide by 2 and it tells you the month. The 7 denotes the year. It's an authentic hofner potentiometer. Per the appraisal from Gruhn Guitars (see last pic), they estimate this to be from a limited run of maybe 10 basses. The color and style of wood as well as the pickguard are consistent with a 5000 / 1 Deluxe but the rest is consistent with a 500 / 1 including the white binding. Lovely Selmer catalogue from 1966 full of many great names like Gibson, Hagstrom Hofner etc, even Beatles guitar strings!
In very good used condition for its nearly 60 years of age, the staples are intact and attached, just a few marks as to be expected. 36 pages, complete and full of information (and such low prices compared to some values now).
These brochures are very collectable now, hard to find in this condition, and costing less than the other one in my photos.

Internally it measures 99cm in length .
As you can see from the photos the covering has seen better data especially on the back and could do with either replacing or patching up but structurally the case is ok(ish) - the latches have some rust .

Hofner Senator Brunette, made in Germany in 1963.
Repaired as the headstock broke off. I used glue, screws, and wood for support. In my experience, it won??t break again.
The repair was painted over, it looks and feels pretty good.
Apart from that, all the accessories were replaced, so it lost most of its collectible value, but it is still a very good looking German 60??s archtop guitar that sounds and plays amazing.

Working guitar, the electrics work fine, sounds incredible for slide guitar through the jack output with some reverb on. I used it for this in the studio primarily.
At some point someone has replaced the headstock (or so it looks like) - not certain of the year but I believe the body looks to be 1959
Perhaps a good guitar for a repairer, luthier, or a studio for that something different to use as is!

I've had this guitar for ~ 8yrs, I played it regularly in the first year, and hardly at all since, it hasn't been played for at least 3 yrs. It's been sat in a hardcase without strings since (CASE NOT INCLUDED)

Original Hofner Congress acoustic guitar from 1956-1957 in excellent condition, also comes with original 1950??s custom hard shell case.

Early Hofner Serial number: 3280.

No fret wear, barely been played.

This guitar is in remarkably good condition for being over 66 years old!

The action is a a little high but it??s still ok for playing basic chords.

Here I have for sale my vintage and rare Hofner electric guitar with the original hard case.

Was given this guitar in the late 90??s by a client that found it in their attic. Have no idea of the history prior to that. The only thing I can see is that the headstock has been repaired at some point. (Before I owned it)

This Hofner Congress guitar is a rare find for any musician. With its beautiful Brunette Burst finish and working original pickups, it's sure to impress.
1957 I think. Serial Number is 5516. The 3rd digit is smudged but looks like a 1 to me.
The body has a couple of marks but is very good for 67 years old. The neck is very nice but has a few dings. They didn't fit truss rods back then but the action is nice and easy. The fretboard and frets are worn and will need work, but that goes to ... more

The string / Trem cover has been rechromed as it had been scratched with a band name but it was really bad so I had it redone
All electrics are original in fact the only non original parts are the strap buttons, scratchplate screws and the nut that holds the trem arm on every thing else is standard

up for grabs is my 1960s vintage hofner in wild rock'n'roll off-white fake crocodile vinyl, I bought this over a year ago from Germany as my back up guitar but decided it really wasn't right to take it out to shows and do it damage. the seller informed me it had been set up by philthy guitars in Burgstetten, a hofner specialist. This vintage Hofner President archtop guitar is being sold for a friend whose husband owned it before he passed.
Crafted in 1958, it still rings nicely, especially with the Hofner compensator holding the ball end of the strings. Please look carefully at the pictures as the D string strip is slightly bent - but has little impact on tone.

Very minor scratching and dings are highlighted on the pictures, otherwise a good, honest vintage guitar.

Neck taken from Hofner Congress guitar. Original condition with original nitro cellulose lacquer. Some fret wear and blemishes consistent with normal use. Truss rod is working fine . No truss rod cover plate, unfortunately. There is a line-varnish crack at the heel block (see picture) where the joint is glued. It has been glued solid and true. The original logo is missing.
