Vintage guitars for sale: Hagstrom Concord (Viking bass)
Hagstrom guitars were made in Sweden throughout the 1960s and 1970s; their fast-playing low action necks gaining them considerable kudos amongst musicians. Mid sixties models such as the HII and HIII are great guitars, but being relatively common have remained affordable. Watch out for sticky switches though! The seventies guitars are quite desireable; the highly-prized Swede is often referred to as a 'Les Paul-killer', and these always sell well.
1960s Hagstrom guitars were also branded Kent (in the US) and Futurama (in the UK).
Models to look out for: early Standard and De Luxe with sparkle finishes (these models go for good money, but are perhaps best reserved for collectors), Viking, Impala, Swede guitar and bass, H-8 eight string bass.
Up for sale is a Hagstom Viking bass. Unloaded, as pictured. It was declared a factory blem with USED stamped on the back of the headstock and part of the serial number removed. This indicated a defect of some kind. The defect seems to have been electronic; something in those components did not work. Insofar as the cosmetics, the body and neck are clean. The truss rod turns fine; strung up, it worked fine. I did not notice any significant issue. I did not attempt to intonate.... more

Up for sale is a set of Hagstrom Viking bass pots, harness, switch. When installed, there was no sound. Something specific was not working in the setup; but it may have been a wiring issue. I assume most if not all of the components do work.... more
