Although it is the prototype for an instrument that was not produced, it also seems to be a prototype of the Ripper and Grabber models introduced later that are constructed with the same materials (maple neck and body) and similar dimensions. 1969 Gibson EB-0 one owner bass with original custom hard sided case. See pic of original owner with the bass in the early ?70s ! Both the bass and case show wear from decades of use. There are scuffs, scratches, dings, and dents as you would expect. There is a split in the headstock that extends for approximately 7 inches, see photo. Bass has some finish cracks all over the body. See pic 4, I??ve tried to capture it. Very common for its age. No major blemishes, but not mint condition. Mute still works great, all original pickups still sound like they did in the 60s.

I have the original case, but it wasn??t easily accessible at the time of posting. I may have updated or would be happy to add pics if a serious buyer wants them. Case is in rugged condition.

This a killer bass and a total P bass killer. Gibson released these to compete with the p bass and they are far, far, better quality. Mahogany body, Mable neck, brass nut, active and passive humbuckers with MOOG electronics! All original with the original case. These Gibson / Epiphone mutes came factory built on the two point bridges of the 60??s Thunderbirds and the Epiphone Embassy. These are extremely hard to find and will complete your Thunderbird restoration. This particular one came off a 1967 Embassy made in the Kalamazoo factory (using all Gibson parts). This is from a late 50's or 60's Gibson EB-2 bass guitar. The pickguard is in solid condition and comes with its original bracket.
The bracket has some nice patina on it. It would polish up nicely if desired. The guard has some marks running the length of it. I tried to get them to show in the light. They are not scratches and not into the pickguard material. They are certainly normal playwear I just like to over-describe so there are no surprises when it arrives

I bought this new for two reasons, I thought the shorter scale may be easier for me, but chiefly because I thought Jack Bruce was cool. It transpired that I prefered the longer scale, but Jack Bruce was still cool!I actually did not find swapping between long and short scale basses easy so it has spent virtually all its life on my wall. So somewhere along the way a previous owner decided they wanted two pickups on their EB-0 and it??s all the better for it!

Not quite sure what the extra pickup is but it sounds monstrous and a really useful contrast with the factory pickup especially with a standard three way switch. The conversion has been done very nicely

Gibson EB-0 bass from circa 1966. Serial number dates to Kalamazoo, MI, USA, 66-68, buts pots are dated 48th week of 1965, so '66 is very likely. All original, electrics untouched and no breaks or overspray to the original beautifully checked / glazed nitrocellulose finish. Has the original felt "mute" under the strings which is a bit stiff, but I rarely use it. Truss rod is free and working perfectly with lots of adjustment left, though it shouldn't need any unless a major ... more
