I sanded the wood, assembled it, applied the finish and installed the mother of pearl inlay
This is a high-spirited, loud banjo. The strings are probably 15 years old, and the tone still sounds very crisp

A rare fretless banjo by esteemed American maker H C. Dobson. Stamped either 1870 or 1878 on the dowel rod along with the serial number and the makers name. In excellent condition for it's age 10 3 / 4" diameter spunover pot, 26" scale ebony fretboard with mother of pearl markers and side dots. Modern friction tuners which work beautifully. This pre war mandolin banjo dates from 1939, and was in use untill recently in a friend's ukulele orchestra he now has medical problems and asked me to put it up for sale, the instrument is completely original except for the new fibre skin head and strings comes with its original case. Seems to work fine, Have tested it and pickup works. Looks like the lead socket has been modified to take a regular guitar amp lead (which is what you need in the Europe & US etc). There is what I have taken to be the original connection for an amp in the box but I cannot imagine you would need it anywhere in the world

Vintage Barnes & Mullins 8 string banjolin with original hard case. I bought this instrument 5 years ago but have rarely used it. I know very little about it but was told it's possibly early 1920's. The Barnes & Mullins company moved to Rathbone Place London from Bournemouth in 1900. It's quite a nice piece and in good condition for age. Case is a bit scruffy, suggesting it has earned it's keep.
