This is a 1968 Hofner 500 / 1 bass that has a mix of features from a 500 / 1 and a 5000 / 1 Deluxe. Per the appraisal from Gruhn Guitars (see last pic), they estimate this to be from a limited run of maybe 10 basses. The color and style of wood as well as the pickguard are consistent with a 5000 / 1 Deluxe but the rest is consistent with a 500 / 1 including the white binding. A 5000 / 1 Deluxe has tortoiseshell binding. The original hard shell case is included

Fender Vibrolux brownface combo was introduced after the tweeds in 1961 before being replaced by the blackface in 1963. It has some of the early breakup and mid forward characteristics of the tweeds but with some of the sparkly top and tight lows of the blackface.
This amp is from 1963 and sounds absolutely killer. Both channels start to break up as you hit 3-4. The tremolo is super strong. It's too bad brown Fenders were so short lived. They are coveted for a reason.
